The Friends of Douglas Shire will continue to work towards the de-amalgamation of the former Douglas Shire from Cairns Regional Council.
We are committed to preserving the principles and structures that protect our natural environment and form the built, planned, social and economic fabric of our community.
The Douglas Shire was forced to amalgamate against the will of its citizens and in circumstances which are destroying the unique qualities so many of us have worked for over several decades.
