On 28 October the State Parliament will sit in Cairns. The Friends of the Douglas Shire will use that opportunity to put Premiere Anna Bligh, Treasurer Andrew Fraser, Minister for Local Government, Warren Pitt and Member for Cook, Jason O’Brien on notice that the residents of the former Douglas Shire are very angry about the forced amalgamation of the Douglas Shire with the Cairns City Council.
We urge all Friends to participate in a peaceful demonstration at the front of the Cairns Convention Centre.
- Bus will depart from Habitat, Port Douglas at 7am and return by lunchtime
- Donation of $10 will cover the bus hire
